Mercedes-AMG's Four-Door GT Could Get a Six-Cylinder Engine

Mercedes-AMG's Four-Door GT Could Get a Six-Cylinder Engine While the two-door GT is exclusively available with a roaring V8, the four-door could make do with a lowly six of some sort. This rumor comes from our ever-reliable Car and Driver colleague Jens Meiners, who has the full report on Mercedes-Benz's future product plans. Meiners reports that the six-cylinder GT four-door could come in three flavors–a twin-turbo gas unit, a turbodiesel, and some sort of hybrid setup. It's not specified whether the six-cylinder GT will use a V6, or Mercedes' new inline-six.

With its wide grille and angled-in headlights, the Concept A Sedan bears a resemblance to the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept from the front. The Concept A's headlights are more angular, however, and feature a 3D grid element within the housings that glows different colors depending on the light source, thanks to a coating of UV paint. The taillights feature the same internal grid structure, and mirror the headlights in shape.

It's not as aggressive-looking as the four-door AMG GT concept, but it looks like it'll match the rest of the car's curves nicely.

Just looking at it, you may think this is a thinly veiled look at the next-gen CLA sedan. While that's definitely possible, we've heard that the A-Class sedan will be a separate model slotting between the CLA and C-Class. The Concept A's dimensions don't give many clues as to where it will fit. The concept measures 179.9 inches long, or 2.4 inches shorter than a U.S.-spec CLA. It's also 3.6 inches wider and an inch taller, and is described as having "coupe-like" proportions.

Regardless of where it will fall in the lineup, the Concept A is good-looking for a small car. Mercedes says the concept marks the next evolution of its "sensual purity" design philosophy.

Mercedes-Benz May Introduce GLB-Class Compact Crossover With G-Wagen Cues

Mercedes-Benz May Introduce GLB-Class Compact Crossover With G-Wagen Cues
Blocky SUV Could Fill Space Between GLA and GLC-Class
According to Autocar, the alleged GLB-Class would take elements of the mighty G-Class’ styling and downsize them to fit the subcompact luxury crossover market, a space currently occupied by the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Benz’s own GLA-Class. Given the GLA’s segment-competitive overall length, wheelbase, and width, the GLB-Class would likely be sized a bit larger than most of its competition, particularly in overall height thanks to that Gelandewagen-inspired styling. Mercedes-Benz designers will likely offer a vehicle that takes inspiration from the Ener-G-Force concept from 2015, pictured above.

"Our Concept A Sedan shows that the time of creases is over," said Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG, in a release. "With its perfect proportions and a sensual treatment of surfaces with reduced lines, it is the next milestone of 'Sensual Purity' and has the potential to introduce a new design era."

No details on powertrain were given, but expect a production version to receive turbocharged four-cylinder options, potentially making upwards of 355 hp in AMG trim. The production car will likely ride on a next-gen version of Mercedes' MFA platform, shared with next-gen iterations of the GLA and B-Class, and will do battle directly with the Audi A3 sedan.

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet Makes Its U.S. Debut .

A million miles worth of headroom
As the newest member of the E-Class family, the cabriolet continues the styling theme of being a midsize, shrunken-down S-Class. Its lines are clean and elegant, much like that larger S-Class Cabriolet. And like the S-Class, the E-Class Cabriolet comes jam-packed with typical Mercedes-Benz opulence, lots of tech, and the option for a million miles worth of headroom.
