Currently the Old continent’s favorite sports car, the Mustang gets the same design revisions as the U.S. model – updated headlights, now with standard LED technology, and grilles, subtle changes to the fenders, a new front fascia, and a slightly redesigned taillights.

Far more important things are happening under the front hood, where the 5.0-liter V8 engine has been retuned and now delivers 450 horsepower (336 kilowatts). The unit has received Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection system, which increases low-end torque.

Another important novelty is the introduction of the Blue oval’s new 10-speed automatic gearbox with real-time adaptive shift-scheduling allowing the transmission to adapt to changing conditions and select the right gear in any situation. In manual mode, it can be controlled through steering wheel-mounted paddles-shifters.

Interestingly, due to emissions restrictions, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost motor, the only other engine option for the European market, now delivers 290 hp (216 kW) versus 313 hp (233 kW) before the facelift. This power loss is the result of the increased back pressure within the exhaust system because of the addition of a gas particulate filter, helping the car meet the strict Euro 6.2 emissions standard. However, Ford promises the performance of the EcoBoost variant is not affected, due to the new 10-speed automatic and its overboost function.

2018 Ford Mustang GT Might Rev to a Screaming 7,500 RPM
Ford's reworked 5.0-liter V-8 for the Mustang GT seems to have a few tricks up its sleeve.
Ford has yet to announce horsepower or torque ratings for its new 5.0-liter Coyote V-8, but we do know that the engine now features dual fuel injection, with gasoline being squirted in both at the intake ports and directly into the combustion chambers. And recently, we found an interior picture of the 2018 Ford Mustang GT's gauge cluster shows an elevated engine redline of around 7,500 RPMs. That's 500 RPM higher than on the 2017 model, and just 750 rpm shy of the shrieking 5.2-liter Voodoo motor in the range-topping Shelby GT350.

2018 Ford Mustang price. Rumors suggest that prices will remain fairly constant, perhaps a slight increase to keep in-line with rising manufacturing costs. With powerful 450 HP engine it is likely to have success in premium SUV market.
