Dodge Will Now Sell You a Hellcat Crate Engine

Dodge Will Now Sell You a Hellcat Crate Engine
Hellcat all the things, burnout all the tires
At SEMA today, Dodge announced plans to officially begin selling Hellcat engines. Alongside the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, Dodge says it will also sell a Hellcat engine kit it calls the Hellcrate. This kit is designed for older cars built before 1976, allowing you to more easily add Hellcat power to your classic vehicle.

There’s muscle and then there’s capital “M” Muscle—these MOPAR builds from SEMA 2017 fall in the latter category. Defector 1969 Dodge Charger Is Ringbrothers' First Mopar Build

Defector 1969 Dodge Charger Is Ringbrothers' First Mopar Build Two inches shorter than the original car on a three-inch-longer wheelbase.Much of that labor went into dramatically modifying the Dodge’s body. Compared to a factory-fresh ’69 Charger, Defector’s trunk has been shortened by two inches in length, while its total wheelbase has been extended three inches. The new bodywork is draped in a BASF color called “Greener On The Other Side,” and there’s new chrome all over to accent the paintwork.

Of all the muscle cars in the SEMA 2016 show, this one stands out as one of the most eye catching. Without a doubt, Mopar brought their best faces to Las Vegas this year and now we look forward to their SEMA 2017 entries.

The Ringbrothers' Dodge Charger build was another high point for us as one of the most restrained examples from this year's SEMA. They shoved a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 under the hood but maintained a classic look for the rest of the bodywork and interior.

Don't worry, we didn't forget about the Hellcats. There were so many builds at the show that if you weren't looking closely it'd be easy to trip on one.

Pennzoil and Craftsman each had slick looking and relatively tasteful tunes.

Mopar's booth had some fresh examples too, from a clean Fiat 124 Spider Abarth to a wicked Plymouth Superbird. Check out the gallery to see all of our favorites.
