The Jaguar certified pre-owned program lets you enjoy the benefits of buying a new Jaguar, such as warranty coverage, and the benefits of buying a used car (a lower price). Both are particularly attractive when buying used Jaguars, as they tend to have lower reliability than models from other luxury brands, particularly Lexus, Porsche, and Mercedes, and that reputation often results in lower used Jaguar prices (although you will pay a premium for buying through the Jaguar CPO program).

Which Used Jaguar Vehicles Are Eligible?

Jaguar makes available its full lineup of sports cars, convertibles, and coupes, as well as its F-Pace SUV, under its certified pre-owned vehicle program. This includes the F-Type coupe and convertible, XF mid-sized sedan, XJ premium sedan, and XE compact luxury sport sedan. Inventory includes a selection of rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles. All Jaguar CPO vehicles must be five years old or newer and have less than 60,000 miles to qualify.

2017 Jaguar F-Pace 20d Diesel

2017 Jaguar F-Pace 20d Diesel Slinky, sporty, sleek . . . and fuel-sipping.When the F-Pace launched last year, the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel model (labeled 20d) anchored the bottom of the SUV’s price ladder. (For 2018, the name 25t denotes a new base engine, a 2.0-liter gasoline turbocharged four.) Jaguar enters the diesel market at a time when most others are exiting it; BMW’s X3 diesel disappeared from the lineup recently, Mercedes-Benz has given up on EPA certifying all of its diesel models for the time being, and we all know what happened to kill off Audi’s Q5 diesel.

Jaguar CPO Buying Guide . Jaclyn Trop. Aug 17, 2017. A certified pre-owned ( CPO ) vehicle is a great alternative for buyers on a budget looking for the peace of mind a new-car warranty brings.

Inspection Process

Jaguar certified pre-owned vehicles undergo a comprehensive 165-point certification that covers all systems and components, from the engine and brakes to the headlights and infotainment interface. Certified Jaguar technicians evaluate the vehicle’s electrical and mechanical condition, as well as its paintwork and interior, before approving it for the manufacturer’s pre-owned program. The inspection also includes the car’s luggage area, undercarriage, and heating and air conditioning systems.

Finally, vehicles receive a road test and a final inspection as part of the overall evaluation.

The Jaguar Approved Certified Limited Warranty covers vehicles for up to seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the car’s original in-service date. In short, the CPO warranty extends the vehicle’s original warranty by two years or 40,000 miles.

The 1960 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster: Power Is Not a New Invention

The 1960 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster: Power Is Not a New Invention Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's July 4th weekend, the birthday of America, fireworks and all, the greatest and richest nation in the blah blah blah. I'm choosing to celebrate something built by the island nation from which we declared out independence 241 years ago this week. In the days leading up to Goodwood Festival of Speed, Joe Eberhardt, the President and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, was kind enough to lend me one of Jag's exquisite examples—in a deep navy blue—of the 1960 Jaguar XK150 S 3.8 Roadster. This two-seater is the crown jewel of the XK150 line. Powered by a 3.8-liter evolution of Jaguar’s dual overhead camshaft straight-six, this engine managed to generate a blistering 265 bhp, or around 269 horsepower, and propelled the drophead to a top speed of over 135 mph—an irresponsible pace for any generation. Sitting behind the wheel, the cockpit is simple as a car should be. The dash has an uncluttered array and a radio with a tagline—"His Master's Voice"—that sounds like a Led Zeppelin lyric. In motion, the car is a blast to drive—the opposite in every way from most cars that roll of the assembly line today: The road noise in deafening, the offset pedals torture devices, and the wheel about 45% too large. The steering is at times more of an implication than a command, and even though it has four-wheel disc brakes—a first for any production car—the stopping power in suburban London rush hour traffic kept my braking foot on its toes.

Jaguar’s certified pre-owned program includes 24-hour roadside assistance, allowing customers to call a toll-free hotline in the event of a flat tire, dead battery, or lockout. Coverage includes towing, as well as reimbursement for travel-related expenses, such as food, lodging, and transportation, if the repairs require longer than a day. These benefits transfer to the vehicle’s subsequent owners for the duration of the warranty.

Jaguar provides a full vehicle history report for each vehicle and also offers competitive financing rates on certain models.

Buick CPO Buying Guide

Buick CPO Buying Guide Not all Buick vehicles are eligible to be sold as a certified pre-owned (CPO) car or SUV. Buick’s CPO vehicles are all five years old or younger. They can have no more than 75,000 miles on them and must pass a Vehicle History Report. Additionally, all vehicles considered for the program must pass a 172-point inspection and reconditioning process to be eligible. If the car or SUV fails at any point during the testing, it cannot be sold as a certified pre-owned Buick. Inspection Process The 172-point CPO inspection and reconditioning process covers everything from the engine to the daytime running lights to the seats and the lumbar support. During inspection, all vehicles must also have any outstanding recalls addressed. If any part of a prospective CPO Buick vehicle fails inspection, the dealership has to repair it. If the failure isn't repairable, the vehicle cannot be sold as CPO. Warranty Each CPO Buick comes with two warranties. The first is a six-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. A 12-month/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty also comes with each CPO Buick purchase. Both warranties come with a $0 deductible. Each CPO Buick also comes with two complementary routine maintenance visits. Some dealerships increase this incentive as part of a promotion. If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, return your CPO Buick to the dealership within three days or 150-miles of purchase and you can exchange it for another Buick, Chevrolet, or GMC.

How Does It Compare to Rivals?

Jaguar’s CPO warranty offers a similar level of coverage compared to rivals. Land Rover, Jaguar’s sister brand, also offers a nearly identical warranty. CPO warranties from Audi, BMW, Cadillac, and Porsche last two years or 50,000 miles once the original factory warranty runs out.

Volvo’s warranty covers three years or 50,000 miles. Lexus’ CPO warranty is good for two years after its four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle basic warranty expires, but mileage is unlimited. Mercedes-Benz provides an unlimited-mileage warranty for one year and offers buyers the choice to extend the original warranty for up to two additional years.

Unlike Jaguar, Audi requires an $85 deductible for repairs covered under its warranty for certified pre-owned vehicles.
