Behold the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, the most hardcore of Camaros

Behold the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE, the most hardcore of Camaros The option package will be available this summer. On the outside, it's immediately apparent what some of the changes are. The front fascia receives new canards and revised grilles, which are complemented by the enormous rear wing. That wing is made entirely of carbon fiber, has hollow supports, and provides 300 pounds of downforce at top speed. There is an X on each side of the wing endplates to further reinforce that this is the extreme Camaro (unlike the S10 Xtreme, which was nothing of the sort). The exposed carbon fiber also matches the standard exposed carbon fiber on the hood.

It is currently listed for sale on Craigslist for under $25,000, and with a documented 99k miles on the odometer, this 50-year old treasure is worth the bounty. The kicker? Every single piece of paper documenting its history and maintenance, from delivery in 1967 to present day, will be transferred to the next owner.

Mary, who has pined for a Camaro since she was a kid, said "I love it inside and out, it's an all-American beauty, and looks really good for being 50 years old!"

The car had been in garage storage for many years, and when the cover was slowly pulled off to reveal the perfect red beauty underneath, it was not a difficult decision to make the sale happen.

The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R is the ZL1 1LE outfitted for racing

The Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R is the ZL1 1LE outfitted for racing It will compete in the Pirelli World Challenge and ContinentalChevrolet says the GT4.R is based on the production ZL1 1LE track-day special. In production guise, the ZL1 1LE is gunned by a 650-horsepower, supercharged LT4 engine coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox. But it's the improved aero along with the track-adjustable suspension that really shows off its racing chops. The hungry, aggressive front is festooned with air deflectors and dive planes to give the car more of the downforce it needs, and in stock form the rear wing affords it 300 pounds of downforce.

The car rolled off the line at General Motors' Norwood Assembly Plant in Norwood, OH in early 1967 as No. 4682 and was delivered brand new to Fred Bauer Chevrolet in St. Johns Portland on January 4, 1967. Its first owner took delivery a few months later, March 16, 1967.

The Chevy had gone through a few transformations before the Heer's took it into their garage. The factory red had been painted over in gold, and another coat of red this time a factory Bolero Red hue was laid on top of that.

Steve and Mary are the third owners of this incredible hardtop coupe, and have lovingly refreshed it to the factory quality of 50 years prior, taking painstaking efforts to keep it as close to stock as possible. It still has the original license plates, and there are no fancy accoutrements, digital gauges, or high-end radio it is gloriously pure and unmolested.

Rolling on its original factory stance chassis, Steve said the rare, straight six-cylinder, 250ci engine configuration makes 155 horsepower and experiences smooth shifts via an automatic transmission on the tree. It also has factory power steering and drum brakes on all fours.

Steve said they have retained all the used parts and stock wheels, and added a few comfort features that were not offered in the stock trim, including side door arm rests, a new rearview mirror, polished drip rails over the doors, and an electronic distributor to improve performance. Wheels are American Racing wrapped in 15-inch Grand Prix Performance GT's by Cordovan all around.

Steve admits that the speedometer has not broken 73 mph, nor has it been driven on wet roads, or in the rain while under their care. In fact, since a rebuild of the engine in 2011, it has clocked less than 1,000 miles.

"Our Camaro has been well loved and cared for, and we hope that the next owner will appreciate the true, pure history of this car as much as we do," Steve said. "It's fun to cruise around in."

Simon Harris is Road Tripping a 1970 Camaro Across America .
Simon Harris had a dream of one day seeing all of America in his favorite car, a 1970 Camaro. So with his wife Lisa Lee’s blessing, he sought out and purchased a needy ’70, and took over their small, attached garage for its restoration. For the next seven years he would rebuild the Chevy right there in that one-bay workspace, working on the Camaro whenever time and money would allow. As he drew closer to completion, the couple was excited by the possibility of this trip become a reality, as Lisa Lee would be right there alongside him for that cross-country ride of a lifetime.
