We’ll always love sportbikes, but the trend to naked superbikes cannot be ignored—and for good reason. The Aprilia Tuono V4, KTM Super Duke, and S1000R are all European bikes with true sportbike-beating performance and a more comfortable riding position to boot. As an added bonus the wide handlebars and grunty low-down kick makes them excellent machines to stunt on too, which means more smiles per hour than the fairing-clad counterparts from which they’re derived.

Which is why Ducati would be a few drumsticks short of a full picnic if it didn’t build a V4-powered super naked to join the fray. Can you imagine? We can. Minimal bodywork would showcase the all-new alloy frame which uses the V4 Stradale motor as a stressed chassis component. The Panigale 211-bhp engine would probably be re-tuned for more midrange over outright top speed, and we’re cool with that as we’d expect something north of 190 bhp just to stick it to Aprilia’s Tuono V4.

The end result would be a brutal, stripped-down, and super-compact bike that would keep you grinning from apex to wheelie. More affordable than the fully faired, back-breaking , the Streetfighter could come in vanilla and S flavors (Öhlins, different wheels, LiPo battery) to suit tastes and budgets, but both would have all the Panigale riding modes and electronic packages. The Streetfighter V4 would be proof that less equals more.
