  Professor, 2 teenage sons shot to death in an apparent double murder and suicide A nationally known expert on pardons was found shot to death with his two sons in their home near Rockford, Ill. over the weekend, an apparent double murder and suicide, according to authorities. Peter S. Ruckman, 58, and his sons Christopher Ruckman, 14, and John Ruckman, 12, were found in a house in the 4600 block of Chandan Woods Drive in Cherry Valley about 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz and the Winnebago County sheriff’s office.

A toddler and a woman were found dead in Ocala National Forest on Saturday morning in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.

Investigators said that Kevin Benjamin Olesen Farias, 26 of Minnesota, shot and killed Jessica Johnson, 33, and their 1-year-old daughter Gabriela Farias.

Both victims suffered from gunshot wounds, Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Paul Bloom said Saturday.

Johnson and Gabriela are from Wisconsin, Bloom said.

Farias was also suffering from "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," according to Bloom. He remained in critical condition at a local hospital Sunday.

While details of the attack haven't been made public, deputies were called Saturday to an area near Forest Road 88, about 2 miles north of State Road 40, after a person in the area found the man and the victims at 10:52 a.m.
