Watchdog: Inmates hid computers, tapped into prison network
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two Ohio prisoners took discarded computers and used them to access the prison's network, create inmate passes for restricted areas and apply for credit cards under another inmate's name for a planned tax fraud scheme, the state's government watchdog reported Wednesday.The inspector general'sThe inspector general's report says a lack of supervision at the Marion Correctional Institution enabled the inmates to hide two computers in the ceiling and run wiring to connect to the prison network. The prisoners were able to access the internal records of other inmates.

The 51-year-old Lee was sentenced to die for the 1993 killing of his neighbor Debra Reese, who was struck 36 times with a baseball bat-like tool. He is also serving prison time for the rapes of a woman and teen from Jacksonville.
His attorneys have separately asked a federal judge to consider claims that Lee has fetal alcohol syndrome, brain damage and an intellectual disability. Earlier Tuesday, the judge ordered that Lee receive a psychological evaluation Wednesday.
The state attorney general's office says there are no current legal obstacles to executing Lee as scheduled.

Arkansas prepared to execute its fourth inmate in eight days Thursday night, wrapping up an accelerated schedule of lethal injections that was set to beat the expiration date of one of the drugs. Kenneth Williams, 38, was scheduled to die at 7 p.m. Thursday, but the state was awaiting word from the U.S. Supreme Court on Williams' last appeals before moving forward. His death warrant expires at midnight.
