  Hearing delayed for man charged in Indiana officer's slaying INDIANAPOLIS — The initial hearing for a man charged in the fatal shooting of a police officer in Indianapolis has been delayed until next week. Twenty-eight-year-old Jason D. Brown was scheduled to appear in court Thursday, but his hearing was delayed until Aug. 9 because he remains hospitalized.Brown was charged Tuesday with one felony count of murder in the July 27 killing of Southport police Lt. Aaron Allan.He was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds after two officers fired on him following Allan's shooting.

A Lake Worth man admitted to killing his wife after being questioned by their daughter, nearly 30 years after her mom's death, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriffs office report released Friday.

Deputies said James O’Neil told investigators it all started with a dinner at home on Osborne Circle back in 1987. According to investigators, O'Neil said when his wife Verna burned the meal, he got angry and they fought and she threatened to kill herself with a gun.

James told police she went through with the threat and shot herself but that all changed this week.

According to the arrest report, James told deputies he grabbed the gun that night and pulled the trigger.

The 83-year-old was in a Palm Beach County court Thursday facing homicide charges. His second wife, Doris, was present for the proceeding.

Doris told the judge she was aware of the allegations and OK with having contact with her husband if he were to be released on bail.

In court, O'Neil said he married Doris the year after Verna died.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of Verna's death as undetermined at the time but according to the arrest report, their daughter who was 28 back then, harbored doubts.

The judge set bond for O'Neil at $50,000.
