Damian Staniszewski and James Smith Two people were found dead by hunters in what's being considered a homicide case with a possible connection to two known missing persons, state police in Somerset County, Pa. said Monday.

A forensic anthropology team from Mercyhurst University is trying to help identify the bodies, both of which were found in a wooded area near Ligonier Pike in Conemaugh Township on Friday, police said.

"We are also working with the Cambria County District Attorney's Office due to the possibility of a connection to the ongoing missing persons investigation involving Damian Michael Staniszewski and James Edward Smith," police said in a written statement.

Smith, 32, of Cambria County, and Staniszewski, 19, of Blair County, went missing under what police described as "suspicious circumstances" earlier this year. The two men were last seen together at Smith's home in Portage on March 26, police said.

Anyone who has information about the two bodies in the woods, or about the disappearance of Smith and Staniszewski, is being asked to call police immediately at 814-445-4104 or 814-471-6500. Anonymous calls will be accepted.

The first set of remains was identified in April as 21-year-old Jessica Runions, of Raymore, who was last seen leaving a party with Yust in Sept. 8, 2016.
