  Three dead, two injured after shooting in crowded Kansas college town <p>Gunfire erupted early Sunday in a popular downtown area of a Kansas college town, leaving three people dead and two wounded, police said.</p>The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. not far from police headquarters in Lawrence, in an area crowded with people from concerts, bars and events at the nearby University of Kansas, which was celebrating the start of college basketball season.

A suspect has been arrested in connection to the road rage incident-turned- fatal shooting of 20-year-old college student Sara Mutschlechner in Denton, Texas , on New Years Day, local police said. According to a statement released by the Denton Police Department, officers obtained an arrest

A college freshman shot and killed a campus police officer at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, in west Texas , on Monday, after the student was taken to the university police station for questioning in a drug-related case, said authorities.

  Protesters in St. Louis arrested after blocking traffic - police Police in St. Louis arrested several demonstrators on Tuesday after they blocked downtown and interstate traffic as they protested against the acquittal of a white former police officer who was accused of murdering a black man, authorities said. Police in riot gear took demonstrators into custody as they gathered on Interstate 64, a highway that runs through the city, and then at a busy downtown intersection, snarling evening traffic, city media reported."We don’t see a riot here. Why are you in riot gear?," the protesters chanted as they carried "Black Lives Matter" signs, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The student was being taken for a “standard debriefing” after drugs were found in his room.

College station, tx --. An Austin-area man arrested in Fort Worth is charged with murder for the shooting death of a 21-year-old Texas A&M student killed at her off-campus apartment over the weekend, police said Monday.

A 19-year-old student has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a police officer at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, officials said on Monday night.

The university was on lockdown on Monday night.

Texas Tech police went to check on the welfare of the student, Hollis Daniels, earlier on Monday and after allegedly discovering drugs officers took him to the school's police station, the university said in a statement.

Daniels, reportedly a freshman from Seguin near San Antonio, pulled a gun, shot an officer in the head and then fled on foot before being caught and arrested later, officials said. The officer died.

Daniels was a 19-year-old student in his first year at college, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.

“First and foremost, our hearts go out to the family of the police officer killed at Texas Tech University," Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement.

Lubbock, home to more than 240,000 people, is about 300 miles (483 km) west of Dallas. (Reporting by Alex Dobuzinskis in Los Angeles and Jonathan Allen in New York; Editing by Paul Tait and Jeffrey Benkoe)

<p>Three people, including a Colorado State University student, were killed and one person was wounded Thursday in a pre-dawn shooting outside an apartment complex about a mile (1.6 kilometers) west of the campus, police said. The shooting suspect was among those killed.</p>A motive for the 2 a.m. shooting in Fort Collins wasn't known. University police alerted students and faculty via text and email to stay inside after shots were heard.
