BARRE, Vt. — A Vermont woman who pleaded guilty to killing a social worker and three relatives is facing sentencing.

A five-day sentencing hearing for Jody Herring starts Monday.

Herring pleaded guilty in July to one count of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder.

She admitted that on Aug. 7, 2015, she shot and killed social worker Lara Sobel as Sobel left work in Barre. She also admitted shooting her two cousins, Regina Herring and Rhonda Herring, and her aunt, Julie Falzarano, at their Berlin home.

Police say Herring believed her relatives reported her to the Department for Children and Families.

The plea deal calls for a sentence of 20 years to life in prison on the second-degree murder convictions. She could be sentenced to life without parole on the first-degree murder conviction.

Police in Marietta, Georgia, have arrested a 40-year-old father of five, accusing him of fatally shooting the mother of his children in front of her relatives, PEOPLE confirms. A statement from the Marietta Police Department confirms Justin Cox was arrested Monday night in Atlanta on charges of homicide murder, possession of a firearm during a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities launched a brief manhunt for Cox Sunday afternoon, claiming he fled moments after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend, Felicia Miller, 34, multiple times as she sat in her parked car. Police say the killing stemmed from a “domestic dispute.” Officers were called to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, according to the police statement. They arrived to find Miller “sitting in a parked 2007 Dodge Charger in the driveway” of a Marietta home. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Cox has yet to enter pleas to the charges against him, and it was unclear Wednesday if he has retained legal counsel who could comment on his behalf. PEOPLE was unable to reach any of the victim’s relatives for comment. • Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage?
