Though many commended the magazine for publicly acknowledging the women of the “#MeToo” movement with the “Silence Breakers” cover, Lovato took offense to the chosen runner-up, President Donald Trump.

“Time mag highlights brave women coming forward against sexual assault on the cover but names a man with sexual assault allegations against him runner up to person of the year.. Really @TIME? #hypocrites,” the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer began.

Unfortunately, though, Time magazine chooses their ‘ Person of the Year ’ and the runner up not based on who has made the most positive change this year , but by who has made the most impact in the news.

Lovato also acknowledged that after campaigning for Hillary Clinton and being very politically opinionated on social media, she had stepped back from that role recently.

“I’ve become less vocal about my distain for certain people over the past year because it only divides our country even more but this is worth speaking up about,” she wrote. “@TIMEmag - very disappointed in your hypocrisy and disrespect toward the women on your cover.”

Unfortunately, though, Time magazine chooses their ‘ Person of the Year ’ and the runner up not based on who has made the most positive change this year , but by who has made the most impact in the news.

Demi Lovato did not hold her words and slammed Time magazine after they revealed their " Person of the Year " with the women that have broken their silence on sexual abuse. The "Confident" singer had an issue with the publication having Donald Trump as a runner - up to the #MeToo movement calling

She also retweeted a fan who said that Kesha should have been included on the cover.

The magazine has long acknowledged the most newsworthy person or, in this year’s case, people of the year, not the most inspirational. But Lovato wasn’t pleased by that method.

“To be named POTY by @TIME it should be for doing something positive or brave LIKE the women on the cover. It’s annoying that it’s just about impact on the news,” she wrote.

Lovato is known for speaking her mind. In her recent 2017 American Music Awards performance, she called out her social media bullies. Watch the clip below to see the moving performance!
