How the Roseanne set was painstakingly recreated

Don’t forget to subscribe for more exclusive interviews and photos, only in EW. It was as important to the reunion as getting back all the original actors. When executive producers Tom Werner, Sara Gilbert, and Whitney Cummings began working on the revival of Roseanne, recreating the set on Soundstage 15 in Studio City, Calif., took on a life of its own. Every last item in the Conner household was painstakingly mulled over, right down to the pickled eggs in the kitchen pantry and pictures that hang in the hallway. “That became the challenge, recreating something when there was nothing in existence,” production designer John Shaffner tells EW. “They don’t print those (kitchen) wallpapers anymore. We had a devil of a time finding a sofa.” Here, Schaffner breaks down the process of recreating the fictitious, Landlord, Ill., home of Roseanne and Dan Conner which had the cast believing you can go home again. “It was like the last 20 years didn’t happen,” John Goodman tells EW. Most viewers probably don’t remember the color of the living room walls, but Gilbert did, and she and Shaffner had a helluva time recreating it. “It had been painted a soft, pale lettuce green,” he explains. “Sara had the best color memory. Trying to find the color was really tricky. The first time, there was a little too much blue in it. It was minty. That’s not right. I have to hand it to production.

The news that Rosanne Barr's character on ABC's reboot of "Roseanne" will be a President Trump loving American, has fans of Tim Allen's canceled "Last Man Standing," lighting up the Twitter-sphere, calling out the network to bring back his, as well.

"@ABCNetwork you get rid of last man standing because of its political views, yet Roseanne is pro Trump and you are gonna let her share her views. Someone is a little hypocritical and pro trump at ABC. #lastmanstanding @ofctimallen," one fan tweeted out.

Roseanne thinks she'd make a better president than Oprah

Roseanne thinks she'd make a better president than Oprah Roseanne Barr for Commander-in-Chief? In her first major press conference for the Roseanne reunion, Roseanne Barr told reporters Monday that she’d make a better president than Oprah Winfrey and defended her support for President Donald Trump by saying, “I think it was time for us as a country to shake things up and try something different.” “I do love Oprah. Of course I love Oprah like everybody else,” she said, when asked about Winfrey’s speech at the Golden Globes. That’s when she declared her superiority to the former Queen of daytime. “Actually,” she added, “I think I would be a better president than Oprah or Susan Sarandon, possibly even President Trump.” She also explained why it was important to make her alter-ego a Trump supporter — something viewers will learn when Roseanne premieres on March 27 on ABC. Though Barr has made it clear on her personal Twitter feed that she supports the President, Barr said she felt like it was authentic if Roseanne and her husband Dan did, too. “I said it, and I’ll say again, my show has always been … I’ve always attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and of working class people,” Barr told reporters Monday in Pasadena. “And in fact, it was working class people who elected Trump, so I felt like that was very real and something that needed to be discussed especially about polarization in the family and actually hating people for the way they voted, which I feel like is not American.

Another added: "Would love to see the show give Tim Allen or his #LastManStanding character a guest shot. I'm sure Roseanne's family would shop at Outdoor Man."

Many fans seem to feel that a major catalyst behind the cancellation of Allen's show was that it featured conservative values, however, ABC maintains that the highly rated series was not canceled over its politics.

"The support from all the fans to bring back 'Last Man Standing' is truly overwhelming to me and so appreciated," Allen said in a statement to Page Six. "I, along with the talented writers, wonderful crew and terrific actors, would definitely entertain the idea of bringing the show back as there is so much gas left in the tank, more to be said and laughs to be had.

Even more, when ABC ended the show back in May, Allen posted on Twitter that he was "stunned and blindsided."
