Why Spider-Man Doesn’t Wear Spandex or High Red Leather Boots in New Video Game

Why Spider-Man Doesn’t Wear Spandex or High Red Leather Boots in New Video Game Turns out a realistic Spider-Man wrapped head to toe in spandex is not a good look for the hero. “When we first started designing his new suit … you always start with spandex and it’s not very appealing,” said Insomniac Games’ Jacinda Chew, art director for the upcoming “Marvel’s Spider-Man” PlayStation game. “We were like, ‘Wow, that’s not appealing.’ So we started thinking about what looks good in [computer graphics]. How do you give it structure and ground it with real materials?” The result, Chew told Variety, is Spider-Man’s advanced suit, an outfit that looks like the sort of thing someone might wear to workout, get in fights and protect themselves.

The Girl in the Spider ' s Web is an upcoming crime thriller film directed by Fede Álvarez and written by Steven Knight, Álvarez and Jay Basu, based on the novel of the same name by David Lagercrantz.

Claire Foy becomes the third actress to play Lisbeth Salander in Sony's upcoming The Girl in the Spider ' s Web , but that almost wasn't the case, according to director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead).

The last time we saw novelist Stieg Larsson’s heroine Lisbeth Salander on screen, she was played by Rooney Mara in 2011’s David Fincher-directed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. So how come it’s The Crown star Claire Foy leading the new movie about the Swedish hacker, The Girl in the Spider’s Web (out Nov. 9)?

“There was a lot of debate — but not with me — mostly debate among the studio, if they [were] taking that route or not,” says Spider’s Web director Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe), about the possibility that Mara might reprise the role. “Eventually, I think it was me coming in, saying, I preferred to have my own cast. As a director, I just didn’t like the idea of taking someone else’s cast. As much as I admired Fincher as a filmmaker I think Rooney Mara is Fincher’s Lisbeth, right? And I wanted to find my own.”
