Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by Regina George. Tina Fey‘s 6-year-old daughter, Penelope, is not one of those people. While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday, the Mean Girls creator divulged how “the little one” is extracting “all the wrong takeaways” from the iconic comedy.

“I think that the takeaway is, be very careful about the work you create over the years because your children will one day take the wrong messages from it,” Meyers joked.

The Mean Girls musical, based on the 2004 comedy, will premiere in Washington, D.C.’s National Theatre on Oct. 31 before heading to New York City’s August Wilson Theatre on April 8, 2018. The Broadway-bound cast includes Erika Henningsen (Cady Heron), Kyle Selig (Aaron Samuels), Barrett Wilbert Weed (Janis), Grey Henson (Damian), Taylor Louderman (Regina George), Kate Rockwell (Karen Smith), and Ashley Park (Gretchen Wieners).

“I tried to remember to stay at the core humanity of it, which is the behavior that comes out of all of us sometimes out of jealousy or fear,” Fey previously told EW. “The great thing about music is it lets you get in people’s heads and inside their emotional lives in a way that you can do with a tight close-up in movies, but it’s so much bigger and warmer [in a musical]. I think fans will hopefully find that this has the DNA of the movie and is true to the spirit of it, but is also opened up in a lot of ways.”
