Source: FBI still has 'grave concerns' about Nunes memo With concern at the White House about potential blowback from FBI Director Christopher Wray, the FBI continues to have "grave concerns" over release of a memo from House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, a source said Thursday. "There are still grave concerns about this memo," an official familiar with the FBI stance told CNN.The House Intelligence Committee, in a party-line vote on Monday, moved to release the highly controversial memo alleging abuse of surveillance powers by the FBI and put release of the memo in President Donald Trump's hands.

Schiff responded to Trump with a tweet of his own. President Trump 's decision to release highly classified and distorted intelligence is a blatant attempt to undermine the Trump tweeted Saturday that the memo " vindicated " his insistence that there was "no collusion and there was no obstruction".

That explanation stands in stark contrast to his release of the GOP memo last Friday. The letter said Trump has directed the Justice Department staff to work with the committee if Democrats want to make changes to their memo to “mitigate the risks identified by the department.”

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Sunday said President Trump doesn't want the public to see the "underlying facts" in the Democratic counter-memo because they would undercut his "claim of vindication" in the Russia probe.

"The president doesn't want you to see these facts from the FISA application because it completely undermines his claim of vindication," Schiff told CBS's "Face the Nation," referring to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court application used to obtain a warrant to spy on a former Trump campaign aide.

Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said he plans to work with the FBI to redact necessary information from the Democratic memo, which rebuts a document drafted by staff of the panel's Republican chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.).

There’s An Obvious Parallel Between The Nunes Memo And Reporting On The Russia Investigation

There’s An Obvious Parallel Between The Nunes Memo And Reporting On The Russia Investigation Almost every single news story on secret government investigations and machinations is based on a selectively leaked bit of information. What we should do is evaluate them for credibility and weight them accordingly. The memo release process, based on procedures and processes meant to allow for oversight and protect national security, is a public and relatively transparent one that effectively puts the American public in the position of a political reporter. A reporter knows who his sources are and can evaluate their credibility accordingly.

According to Schiff , who led the Democratic opposition against the memo being released , the memo does the “opposite” of vindicate Trump . 6 days ago It would be highly problematic if Wray wanted to keep the memo classified simply because he did not agree with the conclusion or viewed them as

Trump has heralded the Nunes memo of giving him "total vindication " from the Russia probe, but the Schiff memo is expected to offer a point-by-point rebuttal, claiming the "Well, again, it 's all about sources and methods," Ryan said when asked if he believed Trump should release the Schiff memo .

The White House late last week blocked the release of the Democrats' memo after previously allowing the Nunes memo, which alleged surveillance abuses at the Justice Department, to be made public.

Schiff said on Sunday he believes officials "followed all of the correct procedures" in drafting the application for a FISA warrant.

The California lawmaker, who has been feuding with Nunes and other House Intelligence Committee Republicans over the dueling memos, added that Trump is furthering his own interests by blocking the counter-memo.

"This is a president who puts his own personal interests above the national security interest of the country," Schiff said.

Rep. Adam Schiff expects resolution on Democratic surveillance memo within days .
Rep. Adam Schiff said Tuesday that he expects to reach an agreement in the next day or two with Justice Department officials on public release of a Democratic memo about surveillance and the Russia investigation. "We're very close to a resolution," the California Democrat said at an event hosted by the Sacramento Press Club. Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, prepared the document as a rebuttal to an earlier memo drafted by aides to Rep. Devin Nunes, the panel's Republican chairman.
