President Trump tweeted Wednesday in response to reports of a school shooting in Florida, saying that no one should "feel unsafe in an American school."

"My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting," Trump tweeted. "No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school."

Authorities responded to reports of an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Local outlets reported that as many as 50 people could be injured and that the Margate Fire Department is preparing for a mass casualty situation.

As of publication, the shooter was still at large and the school was on lockdown. The shooting is the 19th school shooting so far in 2018.
