  WhatsApp might stop working for older Android, iPhones and Windows devices WhatsApp might stop working for many users as the company made it public that it would end support for the popular chat app on older handsets by the end of 2016. The company said dropping support on older devices would give it the opportunity to focus more on mobile platforms used by the vast majority of the people.The mobile platforms that would no longer enjoy WhatsApp are Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, iPhone 3GS and iOS 6. The reason is lack of functionality to support the upcoming features.

The wearable operating system was originally scheduled for release by year’s end, only to get pushed backed to a broad “early next year,” a move that may well have contributed to the surprising lack of devices on display at CES last week.

The release date just got a decidedly firmer timeframe of “early February,” courtesy of an email sent out to Google Play developers, soliciting people to publish their apps for the OS and highlighting the on-watch Play Store functionality that’s set for the release.

The timing of the release may well coincide with a pair of new Google designed devices rumored to debut with the operating system’s launch. The pieces of hardware, set to showcase the new version of Wear, are expect to take a form similar to Google’s Nexus partner devices. And maybe we’ll start to see the fruits of the operating system begin to developer later that month in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress.

With the new over-the-air update, Samsung has reworked the on-screen mechanism used to adjust the size of each window. There's also a "pop-up window" mode that can run up to five app at once. Along with the regular split-screen mode, that's a new maximum of seven apps.
