  Shania Twain Animated Avatar Drops Into Mobile Game ‘Home Street’ Shania Twain — on the heels of releasing “Now,” her first studio album in 15 years — is making a guest appearance in free-to-play simulation and home-decorating mobile game “Home Street.” Twain’s animated character will appear in “Home Street” throughout November. The in-game character will lead players through stories, while two music videos from her new album will play on a special billboard in the game.   Harry Potter Augmented-Reality Game From ‘Pokemon Go’ Maker Set for 2018 Harry Potter’s wizarding world will be coming to an augmented-reality mobile game in 2018 from Niantic Labs, the company behind AR game hit “Pokemon Go.” Niantic Labs is developing the augmented-reality game, “Harry Potter: Wizards Unite,” in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s newly created Portkey Games division, TechCrunch reported. For now, there aren’t any additional details about the new Harry Potter game, based on J.K. Rowling’s popular book series and the Warner Bros. movies. The idea is that it would let players virtually immerse themselves in Rowling’s magical world, overlaid on their real-world surroundings via smartphones.

Sony Pictures reportedly deep in negotiations with Nintendo to obtain animated film rights for Nintendo's iconic franchise. The most recent Mario movie was 1993's Super Mario Bros ., starring Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo as Luigi.

In the age of supersized intellectual properties, it was only a matter of time before Super Mario Bros. got a new big-screen treatment.

Illumination makes animated movies for Universal, and is responsible for Despicable Me, Minions, and The Secret Life of Pets, meaning the new Mario movie would also be animated.

WSJ reports that the deal has been in the works for more than a year now, and it comes after Nintendo reached an agreement to incorporate Mario characters into Universal theme parks. Mario Bros. creator Shigeru Miyamoto will reportedly serve as a producer on the movie, but both companies declined to comment when asked by the Journal.
