Instant analysis of the Dolphins releasing DT Ndamukong Suh

Instant analysis of the Dolphins releasing DT Ndamukong Suh Here is instant analysis of the Dolphins releasing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as early as Monday. The report has since been confirmed by a league source. The Dolphins will release Suh under the June 1 designation, which will save the team $17 million in salary cap space. However, the Dolphins would not be able to use that money for three months. The main reason the Dolphins are releasing Suh is it will save them close to $36 million in cap space over the next two seasons.

Facing a Wednesday deadline to work out a new contract with future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints officially announced that they have re-signed the franchise signal caller.

The announcement comes via New Orleans’ official website.

There had been speculation that other teams were chasing after the 11-time Pro Bowler once the legal tampering period started on Monday.

The deal is said to be worth $50 million over two seasons after initial reports had it set at $48 million. Either way, Brees definitely took a hometown discount to re-sign with the Saints.

Georgia State coach sums up being the underdog with one epic quote Ron Hunter is back.

He made it clear why.

“I think that provides, certainly, the team with the most flexibility when it comes to being able to anticipate the future and the ability to acquire free agents and re-sign players on our existing roster that will build a championship team,” Brees said.

Considering Kirk Cousins will receive $28 million annually on his deal with the Vikings and Jimmy Garoppolo re-signed with the 49ers for $27.5 million per season, Brees took a whole heck of a lot less than what his market was valued at.

But there really wasn’t any reason to believe Brees would move on from the Saints. The quarterback and his head coach, Sean Payton, made this pretty clear earlier in the offseason. It’s now officially official.

Drew Brees on no Jimmy Graham reunion: It’s the nature of the beast .
When Saints quarterback Drew Brees gave his first comments after agreeing to a new deal on Tuesday, he made it clear that he was hopeful that tight end Jimmy Graham would be returning to New Orleans for a second tour of duty. Graham won’t be back with the Saints, though. Word of his three-year, $30 [ more ]Graham won’t be back with the Saints, though. Word of his three-year, $30 million deal with the Packers came a bit later on Tuesday and New Orleans will have to look elsewhere for help at tight end in 2018. Brees called that an “extremely good offer” Wednesday while reflecting on Graham’s decision.
