Jordy Nelson to visit Raiders, Seahawks, Saints

Jordy Nelson to visit Raiders, Seahawks, Saints Jordy Nelson‘s free agent tour is underway. The former Packers wide receiver is set to meet with the Seahawks and Saints, according to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter (on Twitter). Nelson is already scheduled to visit the Raiders. This will be the 32-year-old wide receiver’s first time in free agency. The Packers released Nelson on Tuesday, but he’s indicated he still wants to play. He’s heading into what would be his 11th NFL season, and based on where receiver contracts have gone this week, it’s logical there’s a big market for his services despite Nelson having gone through his least productive season.

The Packers have released longtime receiver Jordy Nelson and signed tight end Jimmy Graham, ESPN.com reported Tuesday.

The decision to cut Nelson creates $10.2 million in cap space for the Packers and leaves just $2.3 million in dead money.

The move came minutes after the reported signing of Graham, who has spent the last three years in Seattle. It was rumored that Graham would return to New Orleans, especially after the Saints re-signed quarterback Drew Brees, but that was not the case.

Nelson, 33, spent his entire 10-year career in Green Bay, but he slowed down significantly last season. His yards per catch was 9.1 in 2017, which was much lower than previous years.

But given how fast Nelson bounced back from a torn ACL in 2015 and his stellar 2016 campaign, cutting him was not an anticipated move.
