Just how close are the Browns when it comes to deciding on who to select as their signal-caller of the future? According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Cleveland is now deciding between one of two quarterbacks -- USC's Sam Darnold and Wyoming's Josh Allen -- to take with the No. 1 overall pick

ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Allen mocked to the Browns in his first mock draft but Robinson believes the Browns will be deciding between Darnold and Mayfield for the top pick . While the Browns still have plenty of homework left to do on the top prospects in the NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns have been on the clock for the 2018 NFL Draft for more than three months now, but head coach Hue Jackson said recently that the team has no idea who they are taking with the top overall pick. According to one report, it will definitely be a quarterback.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has been told that the Browns are trying to decide between Sam Darnold and Josh Allen. While there has been talk that Cleveland could use the No. 1 pick on a player like NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb and wait until No. 4 to take a QB since the draft is so deep at the position, La Canfora says it is looking like the first three picks will all be passers.

Mora explains his Darnold/Rosen remarks

Mora explains his Darnold/Rosen remarks Last week, former UCLA coach Jim Mora suggested that former USC quarterback Sam Darnold, not former UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen, would be a better choice for the Browns “because of fit.” So Mora scraped up some toothpaste and jammed into the funnel in comments to Peter King of SI.com.

Parcells’ belief system takes on added meaning as the 2018 NFL draft approaches and the Cleveland Browns try to judge between Sam Darnold , Josh Allen , Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen for the first overall pick .

Chris Mortensen reported that the Browns are down to USC’s Darnold or Wyoming’s Allen . Still , the most likely scenarios appear to be selecting Darnold if he’s not the No. 1 overall pick , trading back with a QB-needy team, or taking Barkley if they remain at No. 2 and Darnold is the top pick .

I continue to hear the Browns are deciding between Josh Allen or Sam Darnold with the top pick. Everyone I speak to is convinced they are taking a quarterback there, it’s just a matter of which one. If the Giants take a quarterback second overall – which is hardly a sure thing – other teams I spoke to believe Josh Rosen would merit serious consideration there. The Jets at three could be deciding between Allen or Mayfield, and I wouldn’t rule the Heisman Trophy winner out at that spot.

If the Browns have narrowed their decision down to Darnold and Allen, our list of the 10 best QB prospects will tell you we believe they could be making a mistake. Darnold seems like the safer pick as a player who proved he can perform in one of the best conferences in the country, while Allen is being touted as having better physical skills than any prospect in NFL Draft history. Given how many QB draft busts they have already produced, it is essential that the Browns make the right choice.

Sam Darnold changed flight to throw for teammate's Pro Day

Sam Darnold changed flight to throw for teammate's Pro Day Former USC QB Sam Darnold cut his trip to Cleveland short to make it back for his former running back Ronald Jones II in front of scouts Thursday.Darnold and Rosen on the move in Cowherd and Klatt’s latest draftsUSC QB Sam Darnold switched his flight home from Cleveland to throw for RB Ronald Jones II today.“He’s always been the man,” says @rojo.#USCtotheNFLpic.twitter.

While Darnold impressed at his pro day and has the better stats, some in Cleveland still find some hope that Allen has a higher ceiling. That's the consolation prize of not being the league's top pick .

More than likely, general manager John Dorsey will use that top pick on a quarterback as he We’re still five months away from the draft, so there will be plenty of time to break down Darnold ’s game and potential fit with the Browns if he declares for the draft by the Jan. Souting Reports .
