Mike Dunleavy to report to Hawks after talk with Mike Budenholzer, report says

Mike Dunleavy to report to Hawks after talk with Mike Budenholzer, report says Mike Dunleavy will report to the Hawks on Tuesdayafter speaking with coach and team president Mike Budenholzer, Yahoo Sports reported Monday. DunleavyDunleavy was traded Saturday from the Cavaliers to the Hawks for Kyle Korver but had been hesitant to report to Atlanta, perhaps in hopes of negotiating a buyout of his contract in order to become a free agent immediately, ESPN.com reported, citing an unidentified source.

Derrick Rose Will be free agent next summer . As reported by Ian Begley of Espn, Derrick Rose will seek max contract this summer . For Rose , that pact would be for five years and nearly 0 million. The Knicks would need to use nearly all of their cap space to ink Rose to a max contract . There is zero chance the Knicks would spend like that to keep Rose .

There’s nothing new to report on the Knicks potentially offering Derrick Rose an extension. A report Tuesday pointed out the possibility of the Knicks extending Rose , but didn’t include any details that furthered the story. The fact remains that New York can offer Rose a three-year extension, with 7.5 percent increases, beginning on Dec. He can sign a max contract with a starting salary of more than million this summer — for a total of five years and approximately 5 million. Though it’s unclear at this point if other teams see Rose as a max player.

With all the drama currently unfolding around Derrick Rose and the New York Knicks, one has to wonder if their marriage is going to be short-lived.

Set to become a free agent following the 2016-17 season, Rose left the team prior to its game against the New Orleans Pelicans Monday Night. He then rejoined the team and was fined.

Now comes this interesting report from ESPN’s Ian Begley indicating that Rose may very well seek a max-contract during free agency this upcoming summer.

“And then there is the potential price tag. Some close to Rose have told friends he will seek a max contract this summer,” Begley reported.

For Rose, that would entail a five-year, $150 million contract.

That seems to be an utterly absurd contract demand. Rose, a former MVP, had missed 250-plus games in the five seasons leading up to his first campaign with the Knicks this season.

Thus far during the 2016-17 season, Rose is averaging 17.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game These are decent numbers, but definitely not worthy of a max contract. Add in Rose’s injury history and it seems highly unlikely he would receive a contract offer anywhere near his reported asking price.

Carmelo Anthony won’t allow Phil Jackson to run him out of NYC .
The relationship between star and president has gone too far in the wrong direction, so far toward frosty that Carmelo Anthony sounded Wednesday like he just went through the easiest breakup of his life. “The conversation wasn't that long, we didn't break bread, we didn't have an hour conversation,” Anthony said about his meeting with Jackson on Tuesday, a day before the Knicks toppled the Celtics, 117-106. “It was a short conversation.”More than anything, Anthony wanted us to know Wednesday that he's over Jackson and the distractions, that his only focus is moving forward and playing basketball.
