Two days after eclipsing his career playoff high, Kawhi Leonard scored 37 points as the Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 96-82 Monday night at the AT&T Center, taking a 2 - 0 lead in the first-round playoff series .

For the second time in the three nights, the San Antonio Spurs were far too much for the Memphis Grizzlies to handle on both ends of the floor.

Behind a game-high 37 points from MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard, they rolled to a 96-82 win Monday night to go up 2-0 in their first-round series.

Leonard, who made nine of his 14 shot attempts, added 10 rebounds and put the game away for good with a mammoth one-handed slam over Grizzlies center Marc Gasol in the final minute. He also made all 19 of his free-throw attempts.

The Spurs jumped out to a 20-12 lead midway through the first quarter on a Danny Green three-pointer, and it was relatively smooth sailing from there on out. By the eight-minute mark in the second quarter, the Spurs' lead was extended to 42-21. By halftime, it was 56-37.

The Grizzlies cut it to 10 by the end of the third thanks to a 28-point quarter and cut it to four early in the fourth. But after a Gregg Popovich timeout with 6:42 left and the Spurs up 80-75, San Antonio got back on track.

It started with a Danny Green three to put the Spurs up 83-75. Then Leonard went coast-to-coast to push the lead to 85-75. Then Pau Gasol hit a three at the 4:56 mark, making it 88-75. The Grizzlies would never get back within single digits.

The Grizzlies' Gasol, who had 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting in Game 1, finished with just 12 points on four-of-15 shooting.

(AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored 32 points, and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Memphis Grizzlies 96-87 on Friday night to take a 3- 0 lead in their Western Conference first-round series .

Western Quarterfinals Vs. Memphis Game 2: Spurs 94, Grizzlies 68 Series : 2 - 0 , SA. The Grizzlies came up with 14 steals to San Antonio's eight, they dominated offensive rebounds 16 to three, and they did a good job in containing both Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge.

The Grizzlies were yet again without five-time All-Defensive team member Tony Allen, who is out indefinitely with a strained calf. Rookie Wayne Selden, who played just 14 games in the regular season, started in his place and went scoreless in 15 minutes.

The two teams meet for Game 3 on Thursday in Memphis at 9:30 p.m. ET.
