LaVar Ball: Michael Jordan couldn't sell $495 shoes because he's not Lonzo LaVar Ball reappeared on television this week to let everyone know that Michael Jordan couldn't sell $495 (!) sneakers, which is a historical fact - but LaVar says it's because MJ isn't his son, Lonzo (which is also a fact, but a dubiously connected one). Whoa!

Kristine Leahy says she has received death threats in the past 24 hours as a result of her on-air confrontation with LaVar Ball on Wednesday.

Leahy, who co-hosts “The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd” on FS1, got into an argument with Ball that centered around the marketing of the Ball family’s Big Baller Brand.

“I think I’m gonna talk more about this later on ‘Speak for Yourself,’ some of the other issues that have come up,” Leahy said. “Now I’m getting death threats, so, I’ll leave it at that.”

Leahy said she hopes the way Ball spoke to her and treated her will reveal who he truly is. And while she said she does not want to allow the confrontation to be a part of her life anymore, she would be open to Ball coming back on the show under very specific circumstances.

LaVar Ball: ‘I don’t need no advice from Kobe Bryant’

LaVar Ball: ‘I don’t need no advice from Kobe Bryant’ This probably won’t go over well, but it really isn’t that bad. LaVar Ball’s irreverence knows no bounds. Thursday morning, in an appearance on ESPN’s Mornings with Keyshaun (Johnson), Jorge (Sedano) and LZ (Granderson), Ball went where few have dared: He refused to bow at the alter of Kobe Bryant. Fans will freak out about the first sentence of the quote, but really, this is probably what most players think anytime the media breathlessly asks if they’ll be turning to the Black Mamba for tips on how studying the prehistoric saber-toothed tiger might help guard LeBron James.

“There would be a lot of conditions — a lot of conditions,” Leahy said. “He wouldn’t be allowed to just walk into the makeup room with just me there and sit next to me. There would have to be someone else there, and he would have to be respectful.”

Here’s more of what Leahy had to say about the interview:

The original debate between Ball and Leahy (watch it here) was awkward if nothing else.

LaVar Ball coached LaMelo's AAU team to 52-point loss .
Of course LaVar Ball’s AAU team is named after his family. The Big Ballers, on which LaMelo Ball plays, got beaten badly on Saturday. The Compton Magic dominated from the very beginning, getting out 19-2, and ultimately winning 109-57.To make things worse for LaMelo, his Chino Hills high school teammate, Onyeka Okongwu, plays for the Magic. According to Ballislife, the teams were not evenly matched, with the much larger players on the Magic. You can see some of that in this video.USA TODAY’s Josh Peter said LaVar barely eased up on the trash talking, though.
