The 10 Hottest Female Race Car Drivers In the Game.

In an event unlike any other, the NASCAR All-Star Race is fast, wild and unpredictable - from rookie winners to shortcuts across the grass (both done by Earnhardts).

Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip won the first in 1985 - back when it was simply called The Winston - and explained fans and drivers, alike, love it because it's a "no holds barred" type of race.

Teams can use the race as a chance to experiment with their engines' horsepower, and Waltrip even joked about cars brought to Charlotte Motor Speedway for this and told never to come back.

"You see drivers do things there that they wouldn't normally do," Waltrip - who's now an analyst for FOX Sports - told For The Win. "It's 'take no prisoners' kind of racing. It's the kind of racing I really enjoy because you don't have any teammates, you don't have any friends, you just go out there and do everything you can to win."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. on why his dad’s infamous ‘pass in the grass’ All-Star Race was so incredible He was 12 at the time of the 1987 All-Star Race.Since the first one in 1985 - although then it was simply known as The Winston - perhaps no year stands out more to NASCAR fans than the 1987 race when Dale Earnhardt outlasted Bill Elliott for the win - and the $200,000 prize. (It's now $1 million.

Why just have an all - star weekend break when you can take all week off* -.

It works!

Unlike some all-star events in other pro sports, these guys take this race very seriously. They want that $1 million prize, even though that's nothing compared with how much many of them make each season.

He said drivers also love it because they can throw out the rulebook - not the whole thing, obviously, but it's part of what makes the race different. With no speed limit on pit road during qualifying, it's crazy to see drivers flying in and out at much than 100 miles per hour.
