Texts become evidence in hearing on Penn State pledge death

Texts become evidence in hearing on Penn State pledge death A judge is hearing evidence of worried texts from Penn State fraternity brothers as he considers whether there's enough evidence to send charges related to a pledge's death to county court for trial. Testimony resumed Monday in a preliminary hearing for the Beta Theta Pi chapter and 16 of its members, accused in the February death of 19-year-old pledge Tim Piazza after a night of heavy drinking.Prosecutors introduced a text from the house pledge master that said "it's over" and that he didn't "want to go to jail" for it.

The Jerry Sandusky trial was traumatic for all involved. The victims, along with the Penn State community, will likely never recover, and are constantly reminded of the disgusting history in Happy Valley during Joe Paterno's tenure. So how can we make a terrible situation worse?

So how can we make a terrible situation worse? Let's relive it, Hollywood style.

There's truly no reason for this, except to line Al Pacino's pockets, and perhaps another Oscar to boot.

HBO has released the first full trailer for Paterno, the upcoming drama following the controversy surrounding Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. Starring Al Pacino (under a lot of makeup), Riley Keough, Greg Grunberg, Kathy Baker

The iconic Al Pacino is making a return to HBO , reuniting with the director Barry Levinson for a brand new project: a movie about Penn State ’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal. According to Variety , Pacino is set to star as legendary PSU football coach Joe Paterno

This doesn't mean we shouldn't always remember what happened at Penn State, and use it as a sign of caution as to what happens when football culture gets out of hand. But there's a big difference between a reminder and feature-length film.

This isn't to sympathize with Penn State in the slightest. It's to protect those that were truly hurt by this atrocity from having it thrown in their face yet again with terrible overacting and a storyline that may or may not be flawed.

This has all the makings of a big money film, and that's precisely what's wrong here. Profiting off scandal is one thing, but real lives were ruined at Penn State, and any error in reporting or tone of this film could have very real consequences.
