According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the Boston Celtics are one of the few teams still mulling the possibility of making a deal for New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony . I'd like the deal even more if Ainge could also finagle the promising young Kyle O'Quinn back in the return as well.

Where will Carmelo Anthony end up? It’s been one of the greatest questions in the NBA for the better part of a year and it still remains a mystery.

Ian Begley of ESPN quoted team president Steve Mills, who said that the Knicks have been in touch with teams, added that a buyout will not happen and that a return to New York in 2017-18 is possible.

Per Tony Williams of Metro New York, general manager Scott Perry added that a timeline for a potential deal is not set.

Report: Rockets, Knicks exploring four-team Anthony trade

Report: Rockets, Knicks exploring four-team Anthony trade The Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are still motivated to work out a trade for Carmelo Anthony, and they are reportedly exploring multiple avenues to make it happen. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks and Rockets are discussing trade scenarios that involve four teams.

Knicks team president Steve Mills was clear about the potential for buying out Carmelo Anthony ’s contract. “No,” he said Monday during a news conference as he was joined by new general manager Scott Perry and head coach Jeff Hornacek. But, Mills didn’t rule out moving Anthony .

This saga gained a lot of steam around the trade deadline and has only regained momentum since the end of the season. Anthony was reportedly close to being moved to the Houston Rockets, though it would appear as though that momentum has at least stalled.

Trading Anthony will not be easy. While he remains an effective offensive player, Anthony is owed more than $26 million in 2017-18 and also has a no-trade clause. Though, the signs are that’s less of a problem than it once was.

The Knicks might be better off just bringing him back. If they surprise the NBA world and have a good season, he’d be an important cog to that development. If, however, New York is losing again, then an Anthony trade would be worth re-exploring around the deadline as teams are gearing up for the playoff push.

Carmelo and Kyrie are looking good.Anthony is in the red-ish hoodie shirt, black shoes and white socks. Irving is in gray with white and black shoes. The two are predictably awesome on the same team.
