NASCAR fan sports Earnhardt-themed sunburn

NASCAR fan sports Earnhardt-themed sunburn No one can accuse Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans of lacking loyalty. During Sunday's I Love New York 355 at Watkins Glen International, NBCSN cameras showed one spectator who got a sunburn purposefully to show support for Earnhardt on his retirement tour.

Dale Earnhardt Jr . will not race at Watkins Glen International or Bristol Motor Speedway. He remained third in Pistol Pete’ s power rankings, as the top three – Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Truex Jr . – remained … Continued.

-- Kevin Harvick has proved the biggest decision of his career was an astute one. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr . is a force to be reckoned with as he continues to gain momentum. Harvick held off a still-hungry Earnhardt (second) and hard-charging Joey Logano (fourth)

Earlier this week, Kevin Harvick blamed NASCAR's lack of growth on Dale Earnhardt Jr., claiming he stunted the sport because he's the 14-time most popular driver but not "anywhere close" to being one of the best.

Thursday while in Detroit ahead of the Pure Michigan 400 on Sunday, Earnhardt told ESPN's Bob Pockrass that Harvick's comments were "hurtful" but added that it doesn't change the respect Junior has for him as a fellow driver.

Earnhardt even complimented Harvick for helping his XFINITY Series team, JR Motorsports, when he ran 34 races for the team between 2014 and 2016.

"He brought an attitude and a commitment and a change in performance. He brought new partnerships. There were just numerous, numerous things that he brought to our company that we still feed off of today, and we still have success today because of that impact that he made at JR Motorsports.

Kevin Harvick blames Dale Earnhardt Jr. for 'stunting' NASCAR's growth Harvick said he's just calling it like he sees it.While on his SiriusXM radio show Happy Hours, Harvick touched on the growth - or lack thereof - in NASCAR and its fan base and placed the blame on Earnhardt. As Junior rounds the race tracks for his final appearances before retiring at the end of the season, Harvick said he doesn't think more fans are showing up to see their favorite driver for the last time, and it's because of Earnhardt's struggles not only this season but throughout his career.

Defending Sprint Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick gave Dale Earnhardt Jr . a die-cast car autographed by Earnhardt Sr. this week, a gesture that was clearly meaningful.

Wednesday afternoon, Kevin Harvick presented Dale Jr . with a die-cast Earnhardt car that his father drove in the 1976 World 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, signed by the man himself.

"So I have an incredible amount of respect for him, and I found his comments - some of those comments - hurtful. But I still respect him as a champion and an ambassador for the sport, and that's just the way it is I guess. I hate that that's how he feels."
