LaVar: Barkley 'my dude' until he got old, started talking crazy

LaVar: Barkley 'my dude' until he got old, started talking crazy LaVar Ball may have a problem with Charles Barkley the TNT analyst, but he was a fan of Charles Barkley the hooper. In fact, the father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball revealed that the undersized power forward was his favorite NBA player:

Lonzo Ball feels much the same way. Sure, his father LaVar Ball has courted media attention with the outlandish, but the son does not expect to be punished for the sins of his father. “Nah. Speaking for my teammates , they already know how he is so it’s never been a problem

Lonzo Ball has done an excellent job thus far of not letting his father’s outlandish remarks become a distraction for him, and the Los Angeles Lakers rookie believes that will continue in his first NBA season.

Lakers coach Luke Walton, son of the legendary Bill Walton, knows plenty about having an outspoken old man. In a Bleacher Report feature earlier this year, the younger Walton spoke about how his own former Lakers teammates “hated” his father Bill and vowed to “make my life hell” because of it. At this point, Ball has not been given the same treatment on behalf of his father LaVar.

“Nah. Speaking for my teammates, they already know how he is so it’s never been a problem, and I don’t think it’s going to be a problem,” Ball told Kurt Helin of NBCSports.com.

Lakers to retire Kobe Bryant’s jersey(s) in December

Lakers to retire Kobe Bryant’s jersey(s) in December You knew it was only a matter of time before the Los Angeles Lakers held a ceremony honoring the Hall of Fame career of Kobe Bryant, and it would appear an official date has been set. The Lakers sent a letter to season ticket holders this summer encouraging them to “hold on to your tickets for the game on Dec. 18" because the team will be holding a “special event” that night. According to TMZ, the Lakers plan to retire Bryant’s jersey — or is it jerseys? — before they face the Golden State Warriors.

By all accounts, Lonzo ’s teammates like him and thoroughly enjoy playing with him. And, in case you haven’t noticed, the Lakers are far better when he’s on the floor. I don’t envy Lonzo ’s situation. Not only does he have a father/son relationship to think of, but LaVar has managed every aspect of his

Created with Sketch. Quickly. LaVar Ball isn't going anywhere. So what should Lonzo and the Lakers do about his Luke Walton comments and repeated outbursts? He needs to be better to his coach and his teammates . And right now, there are a lot of fingers pointing at Lonzo saying: You need to back

The Ball family recently launched a reality show on Facebook called “Ball in the Family,” and Lonzo feels it has given people a chance to see his dad in a different light.

“I think they’re already seeing it because I get a lot of feedback on the show, and a lot more people are seeing the person that he really is,” he said. “I’m happy for him, I’m happy people get to see the person I have known my whole life.”

Of course, Ball has not even played a regular season game with the Lakers yet. His teammates aren’t going to care about his dad’s thoughts on beating Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one, but that could all change in a hurry if LaVar starts criticizing Lakers players. If he makes the same types of comments about Lonzo’s current teammates that he did about his UCLA teammates, that would undoubtedly create some tension.
