A university spokesperson confirmed the school has launched an investigation involving the athletic department, but offered no additional details. New Mexico reportedly hired an outside investigator to conduct the probe.

Davie, 62, is in his sixth season with the Lobos. He's helped turn around a program that was one of the worst in the country when he inherited it. New Mexico posted a 9-4 record last season, winning a division title in the Mountain West Conference and a bowl game along the way.
